»What gave you the idea to start posting cosplay videos on youtube?
Our inspiration for uploading videos online is still pretty unclear to us to this day. We had seen other cosplayers post their exploits at cons on Youtube (which is how some of us found out about cosplay). We began doing that, and what began as random clips of our lives somehow escalated into performances, skits, series of skits and CMVs.
»How did your group form?
The formation of FDP was a collaboration between twinfools and kolibri. Twin was inspired by a Texas cosplay performance group called JAC Productions. Kolibri came up with the name of the group, and together they formed the basis of FDP. Kenshiro was also a member at this point. All three of them went to a local con (Anime Evolution 2007) and held the first FDP event ('Who Wants to be a Gillionaire"). Nova, Valdrein and Mavi (who were already friends of twin, kolibiri and Kenshiro) entered. At the con they also bonded with our photographer (Lazlo) and Eureka as well as stalked AG in the parking lot. After the con twin sent out an email to the original 9 members of FDP asking if they wanted to form a cosplay group. They all replied with "yes" and FDP came into being!
» As a group, how do you decide what series to cosplay and who will cosplay which character?
We don't believe that any one member should dictate what to cosplay or who everyone should be. Usually, a few members are more eager to suggest series than other. Some members prefer not to suggest but the join in the groups they're interested in. No one is ever forced into a role. Someone suggests a series or mentions a character they want to cosplay and other people join in at their whim. Sometimes we'll ask someone to cosplay a particular character, and whether they agree or not is up to them. We're pretty chill!
» What has been the biggest group challenge, either cosplay, convention or skit related?
Getting people together for skits and CMVs has proved challenging because everyone works full time (Valdrein and twinfools go to school full time and work part time).
On one occasion, for the "On Your Own" CMV, Nova originally had planned a completely different CMV instead. Our Kakashi, who lives out of town, was coming on a set date so it couldn't be moved to another time. The original CMV required twin to do lots of stunts, but he had just recovered from chest surgery and that kind of action proved to be impossible. So, Nova had to write a brand new CMV in one night. In the morning we had to get everyone together and we went out to film. it was mid-winter and freezing cold outside. Between shots we spent time in the car with the heat on trying to warm up.
»What is a tip you have for other cosplayers looking to make cosplay videos?
Our biggest tip is: Don't let it become a job!
The moment you turn it into a business is the moment it ceases to become cosplay. Cosplay is for fun, and if you're not doing it for fun then what's the point in spending so much money on it?
We run whole panels at cons on this subject, so there is a lot more to say here. However I think that the most important aspect of it is self and group enjoyment of the hobby and the activity

Here are some tips to help you survive a con!
- "Con Sickness" is when you attend a con and catch a cold. Try to avoid catching this by washing your hands regularly or using hand sanitizer. Especially before eating!
- Remember to drink fluids to keep hydrated. If you are in a costume that is going to cause you to sweat, try to drink sports drinks that will help replenish what you are sweating out. For the average congoer, water should be provided by the convention, especially at a hotel. You can also bring a bottle of water from home!
- Remember to eat real food! Set some of your spending money aside for meals, or bring food from home!
- Grab your cash before the con! ATMs either run out of money or have giant lineups and many give you a service charge.
- Cosplaying? Bring some extra clothes or shoes if possible. Walking around in new shoes all day can hurt your feet, and some costumes might get uncomfortable or damaged and you may want to take them off. These extras can fit in a backpack, be left in the car, tossed in a hotel room, or if there is a baggage check you can leave it with them.
- Badges can get lost easily, so make sure to secure them well.
- When you register at a con or pick up your badge you usually get a booklette. Read this! It usually contains the map and schedule, but can have some other useful information such as where other associated events are held.
