Cosplay for a Cause is a charity project involving a group of impressive cosplayers who are helping to create a 2012 calander that will be sold to raise funds for the Japanese Red Cross Society to assist in Japan's Disaster relief aid. The calander will offer many never before seen photos as well as additional artwork by reknowned comic book artists Mark Brooks, Eric Canete, Cully Hamner and Brian Stelfreeze. The calander is only $17.99 and 100% of their proceeds will be going to the Japanese Red Cross society.

»Lots of people have encouraged donations for Japan but not in calander form, who decided to start thisproject and how did the idea of a cosplay calendar come about.
I came up with idea after I heard what Happened in Japan on March 11th. I wanted to contribute in some way, while I had donated some of my own money I felt like there was more I needed to do. There is a special place in my heart for Japan, and knew there were others out there, who felt the same way. I thought a calendar was a great idea, it would allow for many people to contribute and show their support in their own way but part of a project
»You have a large group of well known cosplayers (Fancesca Dani, Yaya Han, Ginny Mcqueen, GSTQ Fashions) working on the project, was it a hard to get this group together?
It wasn’t a challenge at all, everyone was very excited to participate. I only wish I had more room for all the people who wanted to be part of it.
»What has been your biggest challenge to date?
Trying to create a tight schedule, because the further you get from a disaster the harder it is to generate donations.
»Are there any plans for making the calender more available, such as selling it at conventions or in stores?
We do offer stores the option to purchase from us and receive a shipping discount.

They will be available at Yaya Hans Table at almost all her conventions for the rest of the year.

Adam Hughes & Allison Sohn have been incredible generous to us and will be selling them at their table at San Diego & NYCC

We are currently working on arrangement for Dragoncon to get a fan table so we can sell and sign the calendars, since approx 8 of the ladies from the calendar will be attending the convention.

For those local in Atlanta, we hope to have a small launch party early July so you can come and meet some of the girls and pick yours up early! You can check out our facebook and Twitter for more details.
»This is a really great project bringing out the good in the community and embracing the hobby, are there plans for more cosplay calendars or charity projects in the future?
I would like to definitely pursue doing more charity work using Cosplay as a medium, but right now I’m just focus on this cause with this calendar.
»When is the calendar expected to be released?
You can pre Order the calendar now from Cosplayforacause.com. They are actually just arriving from the printer in the next day or two and will be shipped out to all those who order them shortly. We do have a limited amount so order yours before we run out

»Pro Tips

Looking for a really nice spike on your wig? Make the point stay and look it's best by using a small bit of clear drying white school glue (PVA Glue). This will help prevent the tip from breaking apart!

Having trouble working with spirit gum? You don't need a lot of spirit gum, use small amounts and add more as necessary. Tap the spirit gum with your finger until it is tacky, this will help it dry faster and prevent your piece from moving around! And when it's all done? Use a spirit gum remover to remove it, alternatives are rubbing alcohol or nail polish remover but they are not as effective.
